Tax season is over and you probably have a pile of papers left. The good news is that coming up soon in most communities are Free Shredder Events. If you haven’t been shredding all along yourself, this is the perfect opportunity to securely dispose of your sensitive papers.

Yes, that’s a tree growing in the gutter. We’ve all heard of “Spring Cleaning”. What some people don’t realize is that it also applies to the outside of your home. Spring is a great time to see what affects the winter has had on your home and to take care of it. This is also a way to protect your investment.
Sometimes you can plan for “down time” and sometimes you can’t. In this case I couldn’t. I slipped on the ice and broke my leg in February. Shortly after surgery I was lugging around a pretty pink cast. Even though I couldn’t “plan” for this downtime I could plan for, seek and accept assistance. When something unexpected happens in our life friends and family will ask “How can I help?” So often we don’t know how to accept their gracious offers or know what would be good to ask them for. A friend of mine had the good fortune of time to plan for her hip surgery last year so when I realized I was going to have limited mobility for a couple of months I remembered what she had done.
